World Youth Sunday: Supporting the Young People of Our Diocese

On the weekend of 21st and 22nd November, the feast of Christ the King, parishes across the Diocese of Brentwood will come together to celebrate the gift of young people and their important place in the life of the Church as part of World Youth Sunday. As part of the celebration, young speakers will be visiting parishes across the Diocese to share about the work of the Brentwood Catholic Youth Service (BCYS) and invite parishioners to support this ministry.

Every year, BCYS and Walsingham House at Abbotswick journey alongside thousands of young people across Essex and East London. Through retreats, pilgrimages, Youth Masses, formation and events, young people are given opportunities to grow in faith, build friendships, serve others and encounter Christ.

The World Youth Sunday collection is vital to this work. It is the main annual opportunity for BCYS to raise the income needed to continue providing these opportunities and to keep them accessible to young people. Donations also help train young leaders and provide resources and support for catechists, youth leaders and school chaplains.

The Church needs your joy, your courage, and your witness so that many others may come to know Christ."
Pope Leo XIV

This year, we are particularly reminded that young people are not simply the future of the Church – they are the Church today.

We warmly encourage parishioners to welcome our young speakers, pray for the young people of our Diocese, and give generously to the World Youth Sunday collection if they are able.

If you would like to support BCYS, you can make a donation at www.bcys.net/donate.

Together, we can continue to create opportunities for young people to grow in faith, discover their gifts and take their place in the life of the Church.
