World Youth Sunday
World Youth Sunday Appeal
Support the Brentwood Catholic Youth Service

World Youth Day is a unique opportunity to celebrate the role and significance of young people in the Catholic Church in England and Wales, along with the global Church.

World Youth Day (formerly National Youth Sunday) is a special opportunity to celebrate the role and significance of young people in the Church, both locally and globally and takes place each year on the feast of Christ the King in November.
Alongside this celebration, there will be an annual appeal from the Diocese to support the vital work of the Brentwood Catholic Youth Service (BCYS).

Why do we take a collection on World Youth Sunday?
Every year, the BCYS and Walsingham House at Abbotswick journey alongside thousands of young people from Essex and East London. Through retreats, pilgrimages, and events, the BCYS helps bring faith alive, empowering young people to lead, serve, and grow closer to Christ. The team also provides training and resources for catechists, youth leaders, and school chaplains — equipping them to inspire the next generation.
Any donations we receive will help to make all of this possible. It helps to train young leaders, provide essential resources, and offer financial support so that no young person misses out on transformative experiences such as the pilgrimage to Lourdes.

How can I help?
To enable us to reach as many people, in as many parishes as possible over this weekend, we will be asking young people, catechists, friends who have experience the BCYS to read a short appeal on our behalf.
We will be sending out flyers and posters to all parishes, and liaising with the Parish Priests, and will also have a script prepared for you to read from.
If you would like to help further — by speaking in your parish, encouraging youth involvement, or supporting our outreach — please contact [email protected] with your name and parish.
