Diocesan Pilgrimage to Walsingham

Saturday 23rd May 2026

On Saturday 24th May, Bishop Alan will lead parishioners from around the Diocese of Brentwood on pilgrimage to honour Our Lady of Walsingham.

It is a wonderful day of prayer and devotion, beginning with Mass celebrated at the Basilica of Our Lady of Walsingham. We then enjoy a picnic lunch together in the grounds before walking the Holy Mile to the grounds of Walsingham Abbey to celebrate Vespers and Benediction on the site of the Holy House.

This year, we are delighted to be bringing a group of young people (over 18) from the BCYS, who will be assisting with various roles throughout the day.

There may be opportunities for readers and altar servers during the Mass, walk, Vespers and Benediction,  as well as carrying the statue of our Lady as we walk the Holy Mile, or ushering and marshalling where needed.

For those who wish, there would be the option to stay at Walsingham House the evening before ready to travel to Walsingham together on Saturday morning.

There would just be a small charge of £10, to cover an evening meal, breakfast and accommodation.

To join us, you can click the “Apply Now” button on this page, or for more information please email [email protected], and if you do wish to stay overnight at Walsingham House, please continue to make the full payment of £10.
For all others who wish to attend, as individuals or as a parish group, you can email [email protected].
