In September and October this year, the relics of St Bernadette will journey on pilgrimage to England, Scotland, and Wales for the very first time. They will leave Lourdes on 1  September and return to the Shrine on 1 November.

A relic is a part of the physical remains of a saint after their death, or an object which has been in contact with their body, and can help us feel close to a holy person.

The relics tour will be a very special event that will provide an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the special gifts of Lourdes, and we are thrilled to be able to invite any young people from the Diocese to a special Youth Mass in the presence of these relics of St Bernadette, in the Cathedral at 6:30pm on Sunday 16th October.

Bishop Alan will also join us to preside for the Mass, with Fr Dominic preaching.

If you have never heard of relics, have never seen them or aren’t sure why they are so important then there will also be a chance to learn a little more about the relics and what they mean, as well as ask questions.

As always, absolutely anyone is very welcome.

If you wish to bring a school group to visit the relics there will be set times on Sunday 16th October at Brentwood Cathedral, or Tuesday 18th October at Our Lady of Lourdes church, Wanstead. Please email [email protected] for more information.
