In today’s Gospel Jesus says, “If anyone wants to be a follower of mine they must renounce themself, take up their cross and follow me.” How do we feel when we hear those words? What do we need to let go of? And what are our crosses? There may well be many, in this time when the summer holidays is ending, a new term is just days away – crosses of anxiety or confusion, crosses of despair, crosses of grief and bereavement. For others this may be a hopeful time, of new beginnings. Jesus lived both crucifixion and resurrection – we’ll reflect on this at Mass today – all are very welcome online.
