COVID-19 updates

20th March 2020

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference (England and Wales) has announced that the public liturgies (including Mass) will cease from Friday evening 20th March 2020. This means that there will be no celebration of Mass with a congregation in parish churches across England and Wales. That will be very hard for many people – to not receive Communion is difficult enough, especially in times of crisis. Here at the BCYS we will try to help by offering opportunities to connect every day.

MASS WILL STILL BE CELEBRATED

In churches and chapels priests will celebrate Mass privately – you will be held very firmly in prayer at this time, and if you have special prayer requests you will be able to phone or email your priest. Within the BCYS please email [email protected] or call 01277373959.

LIVESTREAM MASSES

At Walsingham House at Abbotswick, Fr Dominic will celebrate daily Mass, and this will be live streamed so that everyone can participate in “Spiritual Communion.” All the details are in our events section – the Mass can be accessed via Instagram, where you can also make prayer requests during Mass.

CHURCHES ARE *NOT* CLOSING
Wherever possible during this period churches will remain open, especially on Sundays for individual private prayer, without any organised services. In some churches there will also be the chance to pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament – check your local parish for details.
