Your chance to to help the homeless and young people in our Diocese.
Join us in April 2019 for our sponsored sleepout, where you’ll be sleeping outside in the grounds of Walsingham House at Abbotswick. Please bring a sleeping bag and mat only – or cardboard boxes to sleep on or under. No tents allowed, whatever the weather!
This event is open to adults and young people aged 15+ (Parental consent will be needed for those aged 15-18.)
You may either arrive at 8pm to hear testimony given from someone who has been homeless and to watch the film “A Streetcat Named Bob”, or arrive at 11pm for Mass at 11.15pm.
The sleepout will be from Midnight to 7am and we will then provide a simple breakfast the following morning. There will be up to 1000 places available, so come with friends, come as a parish group – all are welcome!
This event is free to participate but please try to raise some sponsorship – anything from £10 to £1000! Why not set yourself a target of £100? This will go towards supporting the homeless charities on the Caritas Brentwood website ( 50%), especially helping homeless people to have food and shelter in the coldest months of the year and young people in our Diocese ( 50%), especially helping young people in financial need to attend pilgrimages and events.
Please see the Caritas Brentwood website for more information on homeless charities within our diocese: https://www.caritasbrentwood.org/charities/?cause=homeless
The beneficiaries are registered charities so you may find companies willing to match fund sponsorship – please ask them.
You can apply by clicking the “Login/Register” tab above – sponsorship forms and parental consent forms will be available on the registration pages.
